Our professionals - highly regarded experts in finance, economics and accounting - assist in the economic valuation of tangible and intangible assets on behalf of our clients. We provide valuation opinions and expert testimony in traditional commercial disputes, including matters of economic damage, post-transaction disputes, professional negligence and stakeholder controversy. We also offer valuation opinions and expert testimony in disputes before domestic and international courts and arbitration tribunals. Our functional expertise includes:
- Business valuation and accounting
- Valuation of financial instruments
- Intellectual property (IP) valuation
- Fair value assessments for dispute resolution and settlement
What we do
Our economists and accountants apply the theory and principles of microeconomics and finance to analyse issues and provide advice to clients. We approach problems in a highly structured but practical way, and present complex concepts and data in an understandable manner. We have extensive modelling experience, building robust and relevant econometric and financial models for a variety of uses.
International Arbitration
We provide end-to-end valuation and litigation support, including: determining if a claim is worth pursuing; identifying the correct approaches or methodologies for quantifying damages; evaluating claims in the context of past and future economic damages incurred; and pinpointing the exact type of expertise, evidence and documentation required.
Antitrust & Competition Economics
Using rigorous, state-of-the-art analytical methods applied to complex data, we evaluate the likely effects of proposed mergers and acquisitions on prices, costs and competition. Our experts regularly assist both defendants and plaintiffs in antitrust litigation, including cases involving price fixing, predatory pricing, bundling and various forms of allegedly exclusionary conduct. An integral part of our role in many of these cases involves the estimation of lost profits or damages from elevated prices and output restrictions.
Regulated industries
We use economic analysis, econometrics and network modelling to analyse issues of pricing, valuation and risk management that occur across the spectrum of regulated industries.
Securities litigation and risk management
We value and analyse complex financial products, advising on issues such as mis-selling, suitability, hedging and tax implications. We also develop, review and implement strategies for the management of market and credit risks, liquidity and operational risks, reputational risk, litigation exposures and regulatory compliance.
Accountancy and financial reporting
We advise on accountancy and financial reporting issues and provide opinions on liability and remedy issues in cases involving fraud and false accounting, breach of contract or warranty disputes. We assess the relevance and reliability of information obtained from financial records and reports.
Public policy
We advise companies and government agencies on the effect of proposed or actual policies on companies, industry sectors or the economy as a whole.
