Global management consultancy Zinnov has selected Nilesh Thakker to be its new Head of Operations for its US practice. Thakker – who has over three decades of experience in the technology and IT services domain – will also be in charge of the firm’s Global Engineering Excellence division.

Nilesh Thakker is an established expert in the field of IT services. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology – where he studied Electrical Engineering – following which he obtained an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Houston.

He spent the first decade of his professional career working as a Software & Systems Engineer at a number of tech firms, including Electro-Optical Information Systems and Humohrey Systems. In 1998, he co-founded Sitemetrics, which was amongst the first companies to offer services in the search engine optimisation domain.

He remained the Technology Officer at Sitemetrics for a year, before joining tech and cloud solutions firm Intuit as Director of Engineering at its Small Business Division. After six years at Intuit, Thakker was promoted to the position of General Manager and Head of Operations for the firm’s India practice.

The expanding cloud market in India gave Thakker a lucrative environment to work with, which he leveraged not only to set up the best in class India Development Centre, but also to bring Intuit amongst ‘India’s Best Companies to Work For.’ He then worked in the advertising domain for a brief spell, followed by a four-year spell as Chief Technology & Products Officer at inPowered.

Now, Thakker will take over as the US Head of Operations as Zinnov Consulting, based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Zinnov is a research-based consulting firm, which offers services in three specific domains: centre of excellence establishment and optimisation, managing technology disruption, and customer management.

Thakker’s clientele will consist primarily of Fortune 500 companies. He will support these firms with services in the first domain – establishing centres of excellence – in addition to helping them maximize their global footprint and strategically manage their investments in the technology domain.

Commenting on his appointment, CEO at Zinnov Pari Natarajan said, “Nilesh has been instrumental in scaling our U.S. operations. The unique combination of technology expertise and extensive experience in globalisation that Nilesh brings to the table has strengthened Zinnov, enabling our customers to accelerate their globalisation journeys. His strategic thinking, deep domain expertise, and industry connects will help us grow manifold in the next 3-5 years.”
