KPMG and NIIT team up to train aspiring finance professionals
KPMG and NIIT are set to collaboratively provide skill training to finance students at the new KPMG NIIT Finance Academy in India. The new academy, located in Gurugram, lays emphasis on the growing importance of digital skills in the evolving world of finance and financial services.
The academy offers four programmes. The first is its graduate programme, targeted at aspiring finance professionals at the onset of their career. The second helps finance companies recognise the skills that are likely to play a crucial role in the near future, and hire the right talent accordingly.
The last two programmes are aimed at enhancing existing skills and developing new ones within an organisation. One of these is an intermediary programme aimed at mid-level executives while the second is an advanced course aimed at senior professionals. Professionals attending the KPMG NIIT Finance Academy are likely to receive a considerable career boost.
Some of India’s most prominent finance companies are set to conduct placement rounds at the academy. On a day-to-day basis, students will interact with highly experience finance professionals who teach at the academy, as well as other industry leaders giving guest lectures.
Students also have the chance to develop skills that will be of exceptional value in a modern business environment. Analysis has shown that as the Industry 4.0 domains permeates an increasing share of the economy, almost one in ten jobs is likely to require an entirely new set of skills than those in demand today.
The professional environment has recognised this, and reskilling has become a prominent business trend. Most have been reskilling internally, while some – like KPMG – have also been looking to spread the expertise. Global consulting firm Capgemini recently launched a Digital Academy in India with the specific objective of providing training.
The KPMG NIIT Academy will be based on the NIIT campus in Gurugram, although some courses might be conducted offsite in line with client demands, in most cases courses that deal with company specifics.
Commenting on the new partnership KPMG India’s Head of CFO Advisory Sai Venkateshwaran said, “The finance workforce of the future will need well-rounded finance technical skills combined with data utilisation and technology skills and broader behavioural skills. We believe that this finance academy will help address a critical component on talent and skills that forms part of the finance transformation journeys of all large organisations in India.”
Bimaljeet Singh Bhasin, a President at NIIT added: “At NIIT, we have been working with the industry and the student community for over three decades and have a keen understanding of the changing workforce requirements brought in by digital disruption. Therefore, we are delighted to partner with KPMG in India, one of the leading providers of risk, financial services and business advisory, to offer futuristic programs in finance to fresh graduates and finance professionals. Together we hope to bridge the skill gap that the industry is currently faced with.”
