FTI promotes Strategic Communications leader Amrit Singh Deo
Amrit Singh Deo, a leader at FTI Consulting in India, has been appointed a Senior Managing Director.
Deo’s promotion comes nearly eight years into his tenure at the global consulting firm. When he joined FTI Consulting in 2012, Deo was tasked with establishing its Strategic Communications practice in India. Under his leadership, FTI Consulting has successfully nestled itself within India’s communications advisory market and currently enjoys a leading reputation among clients.
FTI Consulting’s Strategic Communications business supports organisations with communications advice, financial communications and public affairs counsel. The arm advises on communication and reputation matters relating to public policy, investor relations, mergers & acquisitions, litigation and crisis situations, reputation management and international capital raising.
Deo’s track record spans working with clients in India and Asia Pacific, including in financial services (Mastercard, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Blackrock), energy and natural resources (Exxon, Nobel Energy), healthcare (Johnson & Johnson), industrials (Tetrapak, Crompton Greaves), retail (Woolworths), professional services (Allen & Overy, TrustPlutus) and technology (Virgin Hyperloop One, Axiata).
The Mumbai-based Senior Managing Director is the mastermind behind the ‘India Disclosure Index’ (a study that tracks voluntary disclosure practices amongst publicly-listed companies), and following its success in the country, the annual study has been extended into several Asian countries including China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand. Back in 2016, the initiative saw Singh Deo recognised internally as one of the firm’s chief innovators.
Prior to joining FTI Consulting, Deo was Managing Partner of the Financial Communications practice of Genesis Burson-Marsteller. He advised clients in the financial services sector (TPG Capital, Kotak Bank, IL&FS Investment Managers) and in special situations such as Akzo Nobel (investor relations counsel during shareholder proxy battle in India), International Paper (post-M&A integration communication) and Woolworths (litigation communication in India). Before that, he led the Marketing & Communications function for Ericsson in India and Sri Lanka.
Deo is part of a global intake of 34 new Senior Managing Directors, effective January the 1st 2020. Two other promoted advisors are based in Asia: Ben Johnson and Sean Lam, both operating from FTI Consulting’s Hong Kong office.
