Former Big Four partner Sandip Mukherjee joins Fox Mandal
Former Big Four partner Sandip Mukherjee has joined Fox Mandal, one of India’s leading law firms.
Mukherjee most recently worked as an independent consultant specialised in tax advisory, leveraging his over two decades of experience in the professional services industry gained at many of the sector’s top brands. He latterly was a partner at Deloitte in its Tax practice, and before that, he spent eighteen years at rival PwC across its offices in India and Asia.
He started his career in the accounting and consulting landscape at Arthur Andersen, after which he had a brief spell at mid-tier network RSM. During his 27 years in the profession, he led and contributed to dozens of tax engagements both domestic as well as international, in the areas of corporate tax, employee tax, foreign exchange laws, tax litigation, international tax and mergers & acquisitions.
In his new role, Mukherjee leads Fox Mandal’s Tax Practice in Western and Southern India, overseeing several offices and a team of (senior) lawyers, consultants and staff. “I am excited to be associated with Fox Mandal,” he said, describing the firm as “an established and illustrious market leader” in the legal services sector.
Established in 1896, Fox Mandal is one of the oldest full-service law firms in India. The firm has over 200 professionals serving clients across a broad spectrum of practice areas, including employment and industrial relations, litigation & dispute resolution, intellectual property & technology, tax and transaction services.
“I look forward to contribute my experience and expertise in augmenting the firm's vision of becoming a trusted & holistic tax advisor to its clients,” said Mukherjee, who is based in the Pune office.
Shuva Mandal, the Managing Partner of Fox Mandal, is delighted with the high-profile addition, and said, “Sandip has a proven track record of leading large teams and handling significant assignments as part of huge organisations and we are looking forward to aligning his rich experience with the goals of our firm.”
The appointment comes one week after Fox Mandal named Ramaswamy Balasubramanian as its new Chief Operating Officer.
In related news, in July law firm Singh & Associates added an advisory capacity to its heritage legal outfit, focused on the legal side of forensics consulting and accounting services. The unit is led by former Mazars partner Subhayu Roy.
