Gagan Puri and Vishal Narula join Alvarez & Marsal in India
Global management consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal has strengthened its Disputes & Investigations practice in India with the hires of Gagan Puri and Vishal Narula.
Both seniors have been appointed a Managing Director, and both come with a Big Four background. According to Vikram Utamsingh, Alvarez & Marsal’s India boss, “Gagan’s and Vishal’s significant market experience and local networks will benefit our clients in India and regionally. Their additions are part of our continued growth in India.”
Gagan Puri previously was a partner at PwC, and leader of its Forensic Services practice in India. Earlier in his career, he amassed some two decades of consulting experience at global consultancies Navigant, PwC (during his first spell at the firm) and KPMG, where he latterly also was a partner.
Puri specialises in forensic, disputes, risk consulting and regulatory issues. Additionally, he has extensive expertise advising boards, independent directors, management, regulators and the legal community on forensic accounting, and serving as an expert witness.
Vishal Narula similarly joins from PwC, where he latterly was an executive director leading its Forensic Services practice in South India. He specialises in crisis management, anti-trust and privileged consulting, and has deep expertise leading on large complex, regional forensic accounting issues. His track record spans several industries, including e-commerce, IT, food & beverage, manufacturing, media & entertainment, and the public sector.
Earlier in his career, Narula spent over six years at KPMG, national professional services group Sahni Natarajan & Bahl and media and marketing giant Publicis.
At Alvarez & Marsal, New Delhi-based Puri will lead the Risk and Regulatory offering and will be responsible for broadening the group’s overall advisory business in North India. Based in Bangalore, Narula will be involved with broadening the group’s advisory business in South India.
