Tennis legend Rafael Nadal becomes brand ambassador of Infosys
Infosys has announced a major sporting sponsorship scoop, signing up the ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal as an ambassador for the company and its innovation in the sporting arena.
Bengaluru-headquartered Infosys has announced it has signed a three-year partnership with Rafael Nadal, one of the legends in the world of professional tennis, with 22 Grand Slam wins behind his name, including a record 14 French Open titles.
The CEO and managing director of Infosys, Salil Parekh, expressed his admiration for Nadal’s relentless pursuit of excellence and said that his company has a shared commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in serving its clients and communities.
The three-year collaboration will span a number of ambassador and sporting initiatives, kicked off by the development of an AI-powered match analysis tool for Nadal and his coaching team. This personalized tool will provide real-time insights from Nadal’s live matches, as well as historical data from his previous matches.
“I’m very happy to work closely with Infosys, as they work to not only evolve the experience of tennis to the times, but also empower people in our communities to be part of a brighter future. The impact that Infosys is making beyond the court – creating the next opportunity for people, businesses, and communities – deeply inspires me,” said Nadal on the collaboration.
Terms and conditions of the contract were not disclosed, although it is estimated to run in the several millions. Rafael Nadal’s net worth is estimated to be $220 million, with nearly $100 million made off the court through sponsorship and partnership deals such as this one.
Infosys in the tennis scene
Tennis is by no means new to Infosys. Last month, the company also signed up the Iga Świątek, the 22-year-old World Number 1 in women’s tennis and four-time Grand Slam championship winner.
Infosys serves as the digital innovation partner for key tennis events like the ATP Tour, the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and the International Tennis Hall of Fame. “Infosys has leveraged artificial intelligence, cloud technology, data analytics, and digital experiences to reshape the tennis ecosystem for a global audience of a billion fans,” said Parekh.
In addition to reimagining the fan experience, Infosys has introduced over 30 innovative solutions that harness the power of cutting-edge technologies to help players advance their tactics and strokes. These innovations include video and stats analysis platforms for players and coaches.
AI is revolutionizing the sports industry in much the same way as it is many other industries, from enhancing player performance analysis to refining coaching strategies. With machine learning algorithms and data analytics, teams are leveraging AI to gain valuable insights, optimize training regimens, and ultimately elevate the game.
