BCG India chairman Janmejaya Sinha appointed to RBI central board
Janmejaya Sinha, chairman of Boston Consulting Group in India, has been appointed a part-time, non-official director on the central board of the Reserve Bank of India. The four-year term took effect on 24 August 2026.
Sinha, an economist and management consultant, chairs Boston Consulting Group’s Indian business and previously served as chairman of BCG Asia-Pacific. He has also been part of several regulatory committees – a background in financial services advisory that now takes him into the governance structure of India’s monetary authority.
The central board’s current strength is 14, including the governor and deputy governors, alongside government representatives Anuradha Thakur, secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs, and Sanjay Lohiya, secretary of the Department of Financial Services.
Sinha was appointed as part of a set of three. Annie George Mathew is a former special secretary in the Department of Expenditure and a full-time member of the Sixteenth Finance Commission, with over 30 years of experience in public finance. Syed Akbaruddin, a former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, is dean of the Kautilya School of Public Policy in Hyderabad.
