Six consulting firms make LinkedIn's top 25 companies to work for in India
Social and business networking platform LinkedIn has released its list of Top Companies to Work For in India for 2019, and the list is dominated by digital-based firms. Three of the Big Four as well as Accenture, BCG and Tata Consultancy Services have made the top 25 companies.
LinkedIn has more than 50 million users in India, who have provided feedback on a range of metrics with respect to employment conditions in their own organisations and those around them. The list of top companies to work for considers only those organisations that employ more than 500 professionals.
Following this minimum criteria being met, LinkedIn evaluates company operations based on four primary metrics. The first is overall interest in a company, which is determined not through employee responses but via the number of followers and viewers a company’s page has on LinkedIn.
The second is employee engagement, which considers the number of times an employee’s LinkedIn page is viewed by employees of other organisations. The third metric is job demand, which entails the number of applications and responses that a company receives for an opening posted on LinkedIn.
Lastly, firms are evaluated based on employee retention, which is determined by observing the number of employees who have stayed on at a company for more than a year after joining. Based on these four metrics, the firm has listed the top 25 companies in India, and consulting firms have made a significant appearance.
Most consulting firms in the country are looking to ramp up employment significantly in the country, including Big Four accounting and advisory firm KPMG, which was the lowest placed consultancy on the list at 22nd, hot on the heels of Big Four rival PwC in 21st.
Global management consultancy Accenture featured in 18th on the list, presumably resulting from a number of concerted efforts to grow its IT operations in India. The firm has gradually been occupying more of the market share that was traditionally dominated by Indian IT firms.
Another firm that has been expanding substantially in India is the Boston Consulting Group, which featured in 13th place, while Big Four firm EY placed in 11th. Once again, EY has placed an increasing share of its emphasis on its digital services segment, having signed a number of key partnerships in the domain since the start of this year alone.
In keeping with the popularity of digitally oriented firms, IT services giant Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) was the highest ranked consulting firm on the list, placing in 7th. Rapid expansion in its digital capabilities has made TCS the fastest growing IT services firm in the world.
