Tata Consultancy Services has appointed company veteran Krithi Krithivasan as the company’s next as chief executive officer.
In his new role chief executive officer (CEO), Krithivasan will lead a company with revenues of over $25.7 billion, and a team of 613,000 consultants in 55 countries.
Krithivasan has been with Tata Consultancy Services for 24 years, having joined the firm in 1989. During his long tenure, he has held various leadership roles in delivery, customer relationship management, large program management and sales. He currently is President and Global Head of the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance industry vertical.
Headquartered in Mumbai, Tata Consultancy Services is an IT services, consulting and managed services business that works with clients across all corners of the globe. The company is part of India’s largest multinational business group, Tata Group.
Under the leadership of current CEO Rajesh Gopinathan, Tata Consultancy Services has enjoyed one of the most successful runs in its history. During his six-year reign, Tata Consultancy Services added over $10 billion in incremental revenues and over $70 billion in incremental market capitalisation.
“Over the last 6 years, Rajesh has provided strong leadership as the CEO and has laid the foundation for the next phase of TCS’ growth with significant investments in cloud, agile and automation to help clients accelerate their transformation. I am deeply appreciative of Rajesh’s enormous contribution to TCS and wish him the very best for the future,” said N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of TCS.
Formally, Krithivasan has been appointed as CEO Designate with effect from 16th March 2023. He will be appointed as CEO in the next financial year, with Gopinathan to remain with the company until the 15th September 2023 to provide transition and support to his successor.
As to what Gopinathan will do after his surprise resignation, that for now remains shrouded in secrecy. “I have been harbouring a few ideas on what I want to do in the next phase of my life. There’s no better time to leave than when you are actually in a good place, so I’ve decided now is a good time for me to step aside and pursue those interests.”
“Having worked with Krithi over the last two decades, I am confident that he is best positioned to take TCS to greater heights along with the leadership team. I will be working closely with Krithi to give him all the support that he needs.”
