Global management consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal has added to its Managing Director rank in India with the hire of Santosh Kamath.
With over 23 years of experience advising clients across the energy value chain, Santosh Kamath is a recognised industry leader in the industry, in particular in the energy transition space.
He spent the past two decades at KPMG, latterly in the role of partner in the Energy practice, specialising in the renewable energy sector. At Alvarez & Marsal, he now leads the Clean Energy and Energy Transition offerings in India.
During his career, Kamath worked with power utilities, conventional and renewable energy generators, grid operators, regulators and governments on topics including performance improvement, business strategy, and organisational transformation. He also has understanding of regulation and power markets and has assisted regulators in developing regulation, market modeling and competition development.

Kamath has advised regulators on matters related to tariff revision for long-term contracts, and advised clients in bidding for government concessions in the solar, wind and hydrogen sectors, as well as in the mining and resources area.
“As the energy sector continues to transition and evolve, Santosh’s in-depth knowledge and industry relationships, will help our clients effectively navigate the business complexities intertwined with their energy transition challenges,” said Vikram Utamsingh, Managing Director and Country Leader of Alvarez & Marsal in India.
