Oliver Wyman hires BCG partner Sumit Sarawgi to lead Indian business
Global management consulting firm Oliver Wyman has hired BCG senior partner Sumit Sarawgi to lead its Indian business through the next phase of its growth.
Having spent seventeen years at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), the past years as a Managing Director and Senior Partner, Sumit Sarawgi has crossed to Oliver Wyman where he now leads the firm’s teams in Mumbai and New Delhi.
US-headquartered Oliver Wyman first launched its India practice in 2008, and has since established its itself as one of the leading strategy and management consulting firms in the country.
Sarawgi takes over from Aarti Nihalani and Ajay Gupta, who previously co-led the business and will transition to more client-centric roles. “We thank Aarti and Ajay for their remarkable contributions to leading our India practice to its current strength, and extend our warm welcome to Sumit,” said Oliver Wyman in a statement.
A partner in the Communications, Media, and Technology practice, Sarawgi has more than two decades of experience in the technology and telecom sectors, specializing in topics such as revenue growth, margin improvement, mergers & acquisitions, digital transformation, organizational change, and data science.
Throughout his career, he has successfully led numerous large-scale transformation projects across India, the United States, Europe, Japan, Korea, and Australia. Prior to BCG, he also worked for Everest Group and Kearney.

Sumit Sarawgi holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta.
