Bain and McKinsey partners join angel funding round in Omnivio
Deepak Jain and Gaurang Jhunjhunwala, partners at Bain & Company and McKinsey & Company, have participated in a seed-stage investment round in Omnivio, an Indian ecommerce and omni-logistics platform.
Founded in 2021 by Sidhartha Bhimania and Anuj Jain, Omnivio is a Noida-based logistics enablement platform that connects retail and ecommerce companies with logistics providers.
Omnivio provides retailers and brands with a logistics network for their delivery, and its technology platform and control tower facilitates full visibility in supply chain and logistics.
Having built a solid fundament since its inception some twelve months ago, Bhimania and Jain aim to scale up in the coming months. To realise this, they have brought in around $400,000 in capital through an angel funding round anchored by Supermmorpheus, Dexter Angels, and 91 Ventures.
“This investment will enable us to boost our control tower effectiveness and build deeper product features; to solve our client’s most pressing challenges with respect to supply chain visibility and logistics control. With the right mentorship and advice of seasoned angels, we intend to scale up quickly and grow our client base by 5x by the end of this financial year,” said Bhimania.
Among the group of angel investors are two well-known figures in the world of consulting: Deepak Jain (a partner at Bain & Company in its New Delhi office) and Gaurang Jhunjhunwala (a partner at McKinsey & Company in its Dubai office).
They are flanked by Pranay Gupta (91 Ventures), Nikhil Bhandarkar (Panthera Peak Ventures), Kushal Nahata and Gautam Kumar (FarEye), and Mihin Shah and Ashish Chitravanshi, among others.
Commenting on its involvement, Sameer Guglani, co-founder of Supermorpheus, said: “We believe that apart from larger marketplaces such as Amazon and Flipkart, there will be various mid-size marketplaces as well and D2C businesses will continue to build and scale in India. Using Omnivio’s technology, they can continue to focus on brand building and customer acquisition, letting Omnivio do the heavy lifting.”
