India-headquartered Uniqus has launched a new Tech Consulting practice, adding digital expertise to its traditional portfolio of financial consulting offerings.

Established late 2022, Uniqus has since its inception grown rapidly to a team of over 400 consultants and staff across offices in India (Mumbai, Bengaluru and Gurugram), the US (two offices) and the Middle East (three offices).

The consulting firm supports its 200-plus clients with services in accounting & reporting, finance operations, governance, risk, and ESG, with the latest expansion seeing a range of technology offerings now added into the mix.

“We are incredibly excited about the launch of our Tech Consulting practice,” said Jamil Khatri, a former KPMG executive who co-founded Uniqus together with fellow India-based ex-EY xecutive Sandip Khetan.

“Our clients across the globe have repeatedly told us about the challenges they face in harnessing the power of technology. The solutions to these challenges are very intuitive but difficult to implement without deep knowledge of underlying domains. Our practice is designed to solve core complex business problems and not just implement technology,” Khatri said.

The Tech Consulting practice will offer four core solutions – Digitization & Automation; Data & Analytics; Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and Technology & Cyber Risk – and include a number of proprietary tech products that Uniqus has developed over the past period, including UniQuest (AI-powered research product) and ESG UniVerse (cloud-based ESG solution).

Abhijit Varma, Global Head of the Tech Consulting practice, said the consulting firm is keen to bring its technology expertise and deep domain expertise to its clients in India and beyond.

“Emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, bring with them immense opportunities. Businesses are trying to find the best use cases to leverage these new technologies, while managing the governance and regulatory challenges that come up. We look forward to partnering with our clients on this journey.”

In delivering its technology projects, Uniqus will deploy its integrated global delivery model, meaning that advisory teams on the ground will be complemented with IT experts from the firm’s delivery centre in India.

Uniqus has been private equity-supported since its launch in December 2022, backed by Nexus Venture Partners, Sorin Investments, and other angel investors. In May this year, the firm received a Series B funding of $10 million.
