Nokia hires Altran to support Delivery Centres in India

Nokia has hired Altran to provide network operations services to its Indian organisation. The deal will see five hundred Altran staff work with Nokia’s own staff in the areas of fault, performance and incident management, configuration management, network design & optimisation, software & tools development and support. The value of the deal has not been disclosed.

The Nokia Corporation was founded in 1865 and incorporated in 1871. The Finnish company came to brand fame in recent years as a model mobile phone producer, successful mainly due to its reliable products and easy to use designs. In recent years, with the rapid proliferation of smartphones and Nokia’s inability to stay on par with the innovation, the company’s handset fortunes changed. Today, after a period of transformation, the handset side of its business has been laid to rest – after being sold to Microsoft – in favour of a focus network infrastructure, software services and technology.

One of Nokia’s offerings in the networking space is the Nokia Global Service Centres (GSC). These are centralised hubs from which a range of local experts are connected with the firm’s network of international experts. The centres, from which customer operations are managed, further provide automation and standardised processes for the services offered by the firm’s network division.

Nokia hires Altran to support Delivery Centres in India

In a bid to improve its operations in India, the Finnish company has hired long-standing partner Altran to implement best practices. Through the deal, Altran will support Nokia by way of its Industrialised GlobalShore model, thereby improving GSC delivery in terms of flexibility, scale and speed, which are key features to help Nokia bring services and new commercial deployments to the market. Altran started globalising its Network operations since 2006 and manages customer operations through several Global Delivery Centres (GDC) and hubs across the world.

The deal will see 500 Altran staff work with Nokia’s Noida and Chennai GSCs in India. As part of the deal, Altran will provide Nokia with fault, performance and incident management, configuration management, network design & optimisation, software & tools development and support. “We co-construct with our clients the best possible scheme to address their business issues and help them further enhance in competitiveness and agility. Our Industrialized GlobalShore model answers some of these challenges, and we are proud to partner today with Nokia on their Network Operations”, says Dominique Cerutti, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at Altran.

“We are delighted to have a chance to strengthen our cooperation with Altran, that helps us ensuring the capacity and availability of expert services for our GDC operations, complementing the work of our own global service delivery professionals,” says Amit Dhingra, Head of Global Service Delivery at Nokia Mobile Networks.

Altran currently has over 1,600 experts in India working across its Industrialised GlobalShore model.
