New-Jersey-based IT services giant Cognizant has expanded its operations in India through the acquisition of SaaSfocus – a Noida-based platinum Salesforce Partner. The acquisition boosts Cognizant’s cloud offerings. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Established in 2009, SaaSfocus is a technology consulting firm, which emphasises the integration of cloud computing to implement its clients’ comprehensive digital transformations. The firm’s services are lent substantial credibility by its status as a platinum Salesforce partner.

Since its inception, the firm has executed over 500 projects in the Salesforce domain, and reportedly boasts a Salesforce Customer Satisfaction score of 9.67/10. The firm’s services in the cloud computing domain include cloud implementation, product development, cloud strategies, process development, and a number of others.

The firm has now been acquired by global IT services giant Cognizant, which – much like a number of others in India – is increasingly focusing on its Salesforce practice in India, currently deploying 3,000 professionals in the domain. SaaSfocus has a headcount of 350 consultants, which will provide a significant boost to this drive.

In addition to the Indian market, the fact that around 70 of SaaSfocus' personnel are based in Australia will give Cognizant the added benefit of a presence in the Oceanic country. The acquisition “will also expand our portfolio of offerings and bring niche skills in the financial services, automotive, manufacturing, and insurance,” said Jyoti Sengupta, Head of Asia-Pacific operations at Cognizant.

India’s cloud computing market has been growing substantially in recent years, which has prompted similar expansion efforts from a number of firms active in the IT services domain. Cognizant is additionally trying to develop its customer relationship management capabilities, to which end there are few better strategies than to acquire a partner of Salesforce – one of the fastest-growing enterprise software firms in the world.

Commenting on the acquisition, Co-founder of SaaSfocus and CEO of its Australia & New Zealand operations Amit Choudhary said, “Cognizant’s global delivery footprint, digital expertise, and unique culture of innovation and empowerment made it a natural fit for SaaSfocus.”

He added, “Combining Cognizant’s global capabilities, deep domain expertise, and digital solutions with SaaSfocus’ specialised Salesforce consulting competencies will help us accelerate our clients’ digital transformation journeys and create global opportunities for our employees."
